Abochi – For the Bereaved Ft. Kwaku Bany

Abochi shifts tone with For the Bereaved and Kwaku Bany steps in for the weight. Track 5 off Okaysions. 2025. Abochi turns the occasion somber and makes room for grief.

For the Bereaved is Abochi in consolation mode. The title is direct. No metaphor needed. This is Abochi addressing loss, memory, and the empty chairs at every celebration. The track slows the EP down. After parties and birthdays, the next occasion is mourning. The mood is heavy. The purpose is clear: sit with the hurt.

The feature carries purpose. Kwaku Bany enters with a voice built for lament. His presence turns the record into a collective sigh. Abochi frames the pain. Kwaku Bany gives it language. The collaboration feels like a libation poured in sound. This is not for dancing. It’s for remembering.

The track stands as a single moment inside a larger project. One song, one occasion. Two voices, one message. The production leans sparse Afrobeats with Highlife soul. The drums are restrained. The melody mourns. This is the point in the EP where the lights dim and names are called.

If you want Ghanaian music with gravity, empathy, and Abochi tapping Kwaku Bany to speak for those who can’t speak anymore, For the Bereaved delivers. It’s built for quiet nights, for anniversaries of absence, for when celebration and sorrow share the same date. This is the track that holds space.

In 2025, Abochi uses For the Bereaved to complete Okaysions. The record works because every life has loss. The title is the dedication. Abochi writes the card. Kwaku Bany reads the verse. Some occasions are for tears. This one honors that.
